Two Arrested in Hyderabad for Illegal Sale of Prescription Drugs Worth ₹4.80 Lakh

The Commissioner’s Task Force, Golconda team, along with the SR Nagar Police, have arrested two individuals in Hyderabad for allegedly engaging in the illegal supply and purchase of prescription drugs and controlled cough syrups. The joint operation resulted in the confiscation of illicit pharmaceutical stock and property valued at an estimated ₹4.80 lakh.

The two arrested persons have been identified as 28-year-old Pathan Saleem, a pharmacy worker residing in Yousufguda, and 19-year-old Prashanth Reddy, an unemployed resident of Sanath Nagar.

According to police officials, Saleem worked as an assistant to his elder brother at the Smart Choice Health Pharmacy in Sanathnagar. Taking advantage of his brother’s absence, Saleem allegedly operated an unauthorized side business by selling restricted medications—including Termin injections, Tapentadol tablets, and cough syrups—to buyers without asking for valid medical prescriptions, charging higher prices to generate illegal profits.

Police investigations revealed that Saleem allegedly misused rubber stamps belonging to his brother’s pharmacy. To manage the illicit inventory without raising suspicion, he also rented a separate storage space situated inside the same building to stock and sell the medicines.

The second suspect, Prashanth Reddy, allegedly procured Senkof cough syrup, Alkof DX cough syrup, and Tapentadol tablets from Saleem for his personal consumption.

During the enforcement operation, law enforcement authorities seized 12 Termin injections, 10,000 Tapentadol (Tapazole) 100 mg tablets, 450 bottles of Senkof cough syrup, and six bottles of Alkof DX cough syrup. A OnePlus Nord 5 mobile phone was also taken into custody as part of the seized property.

Following the arrest, both the accused individuals and the confiscated pharmaceutical materials were transferred to the Drug Inspector of the Khairtabad Zone for further investigation and statutory legal proceedings.
