Tukaramgate Police Return Lost Bag With Rs 3 Lakh Gold to Deaf Siblings

The Tukaramgate police recovered a bag containing gold jewellery worth approximately Rs 3 lakh lost by two deaf siblings in Secunderabad and handed it back to their family after tracing their route through CCTV footage.

The incident occurred when the siblings were returning home on their two-wheeler after attending tuition classes in Secunderabad. Unaware to the siblings, their mother had placed the jewellery inside the bag and had forgotten about it before they left.

A passerby named Ankit spotted the bag lying on the road and handed it over to Traffic Assistant Sub-Inspector Jaan on the same day. Upon inspecting the contents, police discovered a gold chain weighing around 2.5 tolas along with other expensive items.

To trace the owners, police reviewed footage from more than 60 CCTV cameras along the transit route. Investigators managed to identify the registration number of the two-wheeler from the camera recordings and gathered the family's contact details.

Because the siblings were unable to speak over a phone call, police reached out to them through WhatsApp messages. Officers subsequently learned that the siblings' parents are also speech and hearing impaired.

Following the verification of the family's details and the contents of the bag, the victims were asked to visit the police station. Tukaramgate Circle Inspector Bashir Ahmed and Crime Inspector Ahmed handed over the recovered jewellery and bag directly to the family.
