TRS Chief Kavitha Demands Installation of Prof Jayashankar Statue on Tank Bund

Telangana Rakshana Sena (TRS) chief Kalvakuntla Kavitha on Monday demanded that the state government install a statue of Telangana ideologue Prof Jayashankar on Tank Bund in Hyderabad.
Speaking at a round table meeting at the TRS office in Banjara Hills, Kavitha urged the government to complete the installation before August 6, which marks the birth anniversary of the ideologue.
During her address, Kavitha highlighted that even 12 years after the formation of Telangana, a statue of Prof Jayashankar has not been erected in Hyderabad. She questioned the delay in honoring the prominent ideologue of the statehood movement at a major public landmark.
The TRS chief also raised concerns over the presence of statues of Andhra leaders in Hyderabad. She alleged that these statues continue to be erected in the city and stated that if the TRS comes to power, it would send those statues back to Andhra Pradesh. Kavitha questioned whether Andhra Pradesh would ever install statues of Telangana leaders in their state.
In addition to Prof Jayashankar, Kavitha demanded the installation of statues of former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao and other martyrs who lost their lives during the Telangana statehood movement.
The demands were made during a round table meeting titled "Aspirations of Activists – Achievements," which was organized at the TRS office in Banjara Hills. Kavitha asserted that political leaders from other states are attempting to dominate by attacking the identity of Telangana. She claimed that only the TRS can safeguard the state's distinct identity.
Kavitha also criticized political opponents, specifically targeting Jana Sena leader Pawan Kalyan and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader Lokesh. She questioned whether leaders from TDP, Jana Sena, and YSRCP had ever advocated for sharing water equally between the two Telugu states. She warned that the people of Telangana are closely observing politicians who do not have genuine love for the state but are trying to conduct politics within its borders.
