Traffic Woes Persist Near Raidurg Metro as Commuters Await Road Widening

Commuters and motorists navigating the stretch near Raidurg Metro Station in Hyderabad continue to experience severe traffic congestion, leading to persistent demands for the road leading towards the station to be widened. Regular traffic delays in the area continue to impact daily travel for both vehicle drivers and Metro users during peak commuting hours.
Road users have raised urgent concerns regarding whether the opposite stretch towards Raidurg Metro Station will be widened, pointing out that the roadway has become far too narrow to handle the existing volume of travel. Several commuters complained about being stranded for hours in prolonged traffic jams on this corridor, resulting in inordinate delays in reaching their workplaces and offices.
Addressing the issue, Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC) Chief Engineer D Ravi said that efforts are currently under way to widen the road in coordination with Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) officials. He explained that various utilities situated along the stretch need to be shifted before the road-widening work can be actively taken up on the ground.
At the same time, TGIIC is executing road-widening works valued at Rs 9 crore across three other stretches in the vicinity. These include the stretch from the IOC petrol outlet to Trident Hotel, from Medicover to Kohinoor, and from Kohinoor to Sattva. According to officials, these infrastructure works are now nearing completion.
The widening works across those three stretches originally commenced in February and were slated for completion by June. However, progress was delayed due to the necessity of removing large boulders and shifting utilities. Sources also cited heavy traffic movement along the busy corridor as another major hurdle in finishing the construction work on schedule.
Commuters and employees working in the corridor emphasized that widening the other side of the stretch toward Raidurg Metro would bring major relief to hundreds of IT professionals operating in Raidurg, Gachibowli, and adjoining areas. Widening the road would ease vehicular movement and reduce heavy pressure on the existing carriageway used daily by traffic heading to and from offices in Raidurg, Gachibowli, and nearby localities.
