Tolichowki SI Caught by ACB While Accepting Rs 10,000 Bribe in Hyderabad

A Sub-Inspector of Police working at the Tolichowki police station in Hyderabad was caught red-handed by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs. 10,000.

The accused police officer has been identified by the ACB as R. Pandu Naik, who was serving as a Sub-Inspector at the Tolichowki police station.

According to details shared by the Anti-Corruption Bureau, the officer had demanded the bribe in connection with an ongoing domestic issue. A complaint had previously been lodged against the complainant by his mother at the police station.

In connection with the family dispute, SI Pandu Naik allegedly demanded the monetary payoff of Rs. 10,000 from the man. In return for the bribe amount, the officer promised not to register a criminal case against the complainant based on his mother's complaint. Additionally, Naik assured him that the family matter would be settled amicably and promised that the police would not seize his passport.

Acting upon the complaint, the ACB’s City Range-I unit formulated an operation and laid a trap to catch the police officer in the act.

During the operation, ACB personnel caught Pandu Naik red-handed while he was allegedly accepting the Rs. 10,000 bribe. The entire tainted sum of Rs. 10,000 was subsequently recovered from the possession of the Sub-Inspector by the enforcement team.

Following the recovery of the tainted currency, the ACB arrested Pandu Naik. The bureau stated that he was being produced before the Principal Special Judge for Special Police Establishment (SPE) and ACB Cases at Nampally for judicial remand.

The anti-corruption agency confirmed that the case is currently under investigation.
