Tirupati to House Asia's Largest Single-Screen Cinema Theatre with 108-Foot Screen

Tirupati is preparing to welcome a massive new standalone single-screen cinema theatre featuring a 108-foot screen, setting it up to become Asia's largest screen theatre.

Unlike modern multiplex formats housed inside shopping malls, the upcoming facility in the temple town is being built as an independent, standalone single-screen venue. The project is being developed by a group of new entrepreneurs entering the cinema exhibition industry, with no celebrity stake or involvement.

The theatre is expected to commence operations soon, with plans underway to potentially open with the screening of Mahesh Babu's upcoming film Varanasi. The venture marks a notable expansion in cinema exhibition for the region, offering a boost to the traditional single-screen format.

The venture follows earlier large-format developments in Andhra Pradesh, including the V EPIQ screen at V Celluloids in Nellore's Sullurpet. Launched in 2019 by the producers of UV Creations, the Sullurpet multiplex features a screen measuring 100 feet in width and 54 feet in height, which ranked as India's largest and the world's third largest at the time of its opening.

With discussions expected around ticket price caps and regulatory frameworks, the opening of the 108-foot standalone screen in Tirupati is anticipated to add substantial capacity to Tollywood's theatrical exhibition network.
