Thunderstorms Forecast for Hyderabad and Telangana Districts Amid High Heat

On Sunday, June 28, 2026, weather experts forecast scattered intense thunderstorms for Hyderabad, including Begumpet, Serilingampally, and Rajendranagar, driven by high daytime heat. According to meteorological data released by the Telangana Development Planning Society, minimum temperatures continued to fall across the state of Telangana even as daytime temperatures remained high in several districts.
The drop in night temperatures was felt widely across the state, with 28 out of the state's 33 districts reporting minimum temperatures below 25 degrees Celsius. Mahabubnagar district recorded the state’s lowest overall minimum temperature of 22.2 degrees Celsius on Sunday.
Within the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits, Serilingampally recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 24.7 degrees Celsius. Other areas in the city also recorded lower minimum temperatures, including Rajendranagar, Moosapet, and Yousufguda, which all registered a minimum temperature of 24.9 degrees Celsius.
In contrast to the falling minimum temperatures, daytime heat remained intense in many parts of the state. Kamanpur in Peddapalli district recorded the highest maximum temperature in the state of Telangana at 38.6 degrees Celsius. Overall, 22 districts registered maximum temperatures above 35 degrees Celsius on Sunday. Within Hyderabad, the highest maximum temperature of 35.2 degrees Celsius was recorded at Begumpet.
While generally cloudy skies prevailed over the capital city on Sunday, independent weather expert T Balaji stated that Hyderabad is likely to witness scattered intense thunderstorms at a few places. According to Balaji, these scattered intense thunderstorms are expected to develop specifically due to the high heat accumulated during the day.
In addition to the capital city, Balaji forecast isolated thunderstorms in several other districts across Telangana. The districts expected to receive isolated rainfall include Nalgonda, Nagarkurnool, Sangareddy, Vikarabad, Medak, Kamareddy, Siddipet, Karimnagar, Mulugu, and Bhadradri Kothagudem.
