Three More Held in Jubilee Hills Rs 10-Crore Extortion Case

Khairatabad Task Force police have taken three more persons into custody from Andhra Pradesh in connection with the alleged Rs 10-crore extortion and assault case in Jubilee Hills involving Sumanth, the former Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to Minister Konda Surekha.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Arun Kumar, Mutyala Mahendar Reddy, and Kartik. Task Force officials apprehended them in Martur, located in the Bapatla district of Andhra Pradesh, and subsequently handed them over to the Jubilee Hills police for further investigation.

The action follows a complaint lodged by realtor Gongidi Harikrishna regarding an incident on the night of August 20. Investigators stated that Sumanth called Harikrishna to the office of an aide situated in Jubilee Hills at around 9:45 pm. Harikrishna reached the location accompanied by his friend Kiran, who is listed as a witness in the case.

At the office, Sumanth and his associates allegedly confined Harikrishna illegally, verbally abused and threatened him, and assaulted him with iron rods while demanding an extortion payment of Rs 10 crore. Harikrishna sustained severe physical trauma, including a fracture to his left hand, bleeding injuries, and vomited blood as a result of the attack.

Kiran and Harikrishna contacted the police following the assault. Two constables from the Jubilee Hills police station arrived at the scene and shifted the injured complainant to a hospital for medical attention.

The Medipally police initially registered a Zero FIR after receiving Harikrishna's complaint on August 20 and transferred the case to the Jubilee Hills police, under whose jurisdiction the incident occurred.

Harikrishna later lodged a fresh complaint alleging illegal confinement, physical assault, and threats to kill. Based on this, police booked Sumanth alongside his associates Prashanth, Arun Kumar Reddy, Karthik, Mahender Reddy, and several others. Harikrishna also informed the police that Sumanth had previously called him on July 30 demanding an urgent meeting.
