TGSRTC to lease 694 vacant commercial spaces across Telangana

The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) has announced that it will lease out 694 vacant commercial spaces located across the state of Telangana, including major transport hubs in Hyderabad.

The commercial properties, which include vacant shops and larger commercial complexes, are situated at various bus stations, depots, and busy transport hubs. The corporation plans to allot these spaces to business owners through a transparent public tender process, with the formal tenders set to be officially notified shortly.

This massive leasing initiative marks one of the corporation’s largest commercial monetization exercises in recent years. By opening up these properties, TGSRTC aims to push beyond its traditional passenger fares and diversify its overall revenue streams.

TGSRTC Managing Director Y Nagi Reddy explained that the initiative is designed to be highly beneficial for both the state corporation and the business community.

"With lakhs of commuters passing through RTC bus stations every day, the corporation believes its commercial properties offer a ready customer base for businesses ranging from restaurants, food courts and supermarkets to branded retail outlets and neighbourhood stores," Nagi Reddy said.

To ensure transparency ahead of the bidding process, the corporation has already compiled and uploaded comprehensive details of all the available commercial assets onto its official website. Prospective bidders can access information regarding the exact location of the shops, their current vacancy status, details about existing occupants in the complexes, the proposed lease tenures, and the prevailing market rents.

The corporation expects these high-traffic locations to attract significant interest from diverse businesses. "This initiative will be mutually beneficial. It offers businesses access to prime locations with assured public footfall, while helping TGSRTC strengthen its financial position through additional revenue," Nagi Reddy added.
