TGSPDCL Sets 10-Day Deadline to Shift Power Lines at 21 Malkajgiri Junctions

Southern Power Distribution Company of Telangana Limited (TGSPDCL) Chairman and Managing Director Jitesh V. Patil directed officials to shift electric poles and cables obstructing development across 21 key traffic junctions in Malkajgiri within ten days. The directive was issued on Friday during a multi-departmental coordination convergence meeting held at the Malkajgiri Police Commissionerate office in Hyderabad.

The meeting focused on monsoon preparedness, inter-departmental coordination to address public grievances, emergency response protocols, and plans to maintain uninterrupted essential services throughout upcoming festival periods, including Vinayaka Chavithi.

Speaking at the review, Patil highlighted the need for seamless coordination among the Electricity, Municipal, and Police departments. He noted that the relocation of electric poles, transformers, and power lines within the Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation limits must be executed in a phased manner to minimise disruptions and inconvenience to power consumers.

Patil also set an August 30 deadline for the removal of all unused electric poles and associated structures that currently cause traffic obstructions on roads. He stated that TGSPDCL would work alongside the Police Department, Municipal Administration, and the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) to ensure reliable power supply during upcoming festivals.

Addressing tree-trimming operations, the CMD stated that utility teams are actively cutting branches that pose hazards to power lines, with cleared debris removed within two to three days. He added that TGSPDCL is evaluating the feasibility of bio-chipping trimmed branches for nursery use and requested the Municipal Department to identify dedicated sites for dumping branches and storing dismantled electrical materials.

Malkajgiri Police Commissioner B. Sumathi confirmed that the police force will assist the power utility with public safety, traffic control, and field inspections to expedite problem resolution. Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation Commissioner T. Vinay Krishna Reddy proposed that such coordination sessions be held monthly to streamline inter-agency cooperation. The meeting was also attended by Joint Commissioner Sanchit, DCP Traffic K. Rahul Reddy, and representatives from the Water Works Department and HYDRAA.
