TGSPDCL Launches Digital Power Grid Mapping Drive In Hyderabad CURE Limits

The Telangana Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TGSPDCL) on Wednesday launched a comprehensive digital network mapping drive within the Core Urban Region Economy (CURE) limits of Hyderabad. The initiative, flagged off by TGSPDCL Chairman and Managing Director Jitesh V. Patil, aims to map end-to-end power grid connectivity from substations down to individual consumer connections to strengthen the power-supply system, speed up fault detection, and deliver faster, more transparent services to consumers.
Under the new initiative, the power utility will digitally capture network connectivity starting from 132/33 kV extra high tension (EHT) substations, through 33/11 kV substations, 11 kV feeders, and distribution transformers (DTRs), all the way to every individual consumer service connection.
During the drive, field engineers will verify DTR structure codes feeder-wise at the ground level. Additionally, meter readers will visit each DTR during the July billing period to accurately map connected consumer services. Once the mapping is complete, the digital platform will show exactly which EHT substation, 33 kV feeder, 11 kV feeder, and DTR supplies electricity to each consumer, delivering full network visibility.
For consumers, this system is designed to enable instant identification of outage locations when complaints are lodged through the 1912 call centre, the TSSPDCL mobile app, WhatsApp, or the web portal. The utility expects faster fault localization to shorten restoration times and allow quicker, more transparent communication regarding outage causes and estimated restoration times.
For TGSPDCL, the digitally mapped network will help improve outage detection, reduce operating costs, enable better load management, and support scientific infrastructure planning. The digital foundation is also expected to facilitate advanced systems such as smart grid integration, AI-driven outage management, and predictive maintenance, marking a key step in TGSPDCL’s modernization drive.
