TGPCB Shuts 53 Hyderabad Industries and Forfeits Rupees 1.75 Crore over Pollution

The Telangana Pollution Control Board (TGPCB) has ordered the closure or stoppage of production of 53 industries in Hyderabad after they were found violating environmental regulations. The regulatory actions were taken over a six-month period between January and June.

According to an official statement from the board, the decisions were finalized after reviewing 260 industrial units. These reviews were conducted during a series of task force meetings held by the TGPCB to monitor compliance with pollution-control norms.

In addition to shutting down the 53 non-compliant units, the board issued specific directions to 118 other industries during the same six-month timeframe to ensure they adhere to environmental standards.

The TGPCB also initiated financial penalties against the offending operations. Bank guarantees worth ₹1.75 crore were forfeited after the industries failed to comply with the established pollution control board norms.
