TGCSB Urges Hyderabad Cybercrime Victims to Claim Refunds Only via Official Portal

HYDERABAD — The Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) issued an advisory on Wednesday, 15 July 2026, urging cybercrime victims in Hyderabad to claim financial refunds exclusively through the Money Restoration Module (MRM) on the official National Cybercrime Reporting Portal. The bureau warned citizens to remain vigilant against fraudsters and avoid sharing confidential banking details.

The advisory, released at 04:51 PM, aims to protect cybercrime victims from falling prey to refund-related phishing scams and secondary financial fraud. By guiding citizens to use secure, official, and free government channels, the bureau hopes to prevent further financial losses.

According to the TGCSB, victims of cyber fraud should only proceed with refund claims after they receive official SMS notifications from the Ministry of Home Affairs. These automated messages alert victims about earmarked refunds that are ready for processing.

To securely claim their money, victims are required to log in to the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal. The login must be completed using the specific mobile number that was originally linked to their cybercrime complaint. After entering the number, users must complete a secure One-Time Password (OTP) verification, verify all their displayed personal and financial details, and then submit the refund request directly online.

The advisory strongly cautioned the public against sharing sensitive credentials, including OTPs, passwords, or bank account details, with anyone who promises to expedite or speed up the refund process. The TGCSB emphasized that the entire process through the government portal is completely free, and no fee is ever charged for submitting refund requests.

Officials added that any citizen requiring guidance or facing difficulties during the online process can reach out for support. Victims can contact the TGCSB help desk directly or approach the specific investigating officer who is currently handling their cybercrime complaint for further assistance.
