TGCSB Launches 'Suraksha Ka Tiranga' Cyber Safety Campaign in Hyderabad

The Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) launched its Independence Day cyber safety campaign, 'Suraksha Ka Tiranga', in Hyderabad on Friday, noting that stock trading and business investment frauds account for nearly 60% of the financial losses suffered by cybercrime victims in the State.

The campaign, themed 'Towards a Cyber Independent Telangana', was launched on the eve of Independence Day in the presence of DGP C.V. Anand, TGCSB Director Shikha Goel, and actor Akkineni Nagarjuna Rao, along with senior police officers, students, teachers, and community representatives.

Speaking at the event, Ms. Goel noted that while cybercrime complaints increased by 24% across India in 2025, Telangana recorded a 3% decline. Financial losses in the State fell by 20.2%, compared to a 3% reduction nationally. The improvement continued into the first half of 2026, with complaints falling by 10.2% and financial losses dropping by 26.8%, alongside an increase in funds put on hold from 21% to 29%.

Ms. Goel also stated that Telangana secured the top national rank in the Pragati review, which evaluates States across nine cybercrime performance parameters, including tools such as Samanvaya, Sahyog, the Money Recovery Module, and the Grievance Redressal Module.

DGP C.V. Anand stated that an alert and informed citizen remains the strongest line of defence, urging the public to pause and verify before sending money or personal data, and to report fraud immediately. Actor Nagarjuna noted that fraudsters often rely on trust and haste, adding that he avoids acting in a hurry or responding to high-pressure messages.

During the programme, campaign posters and awareness films were released, and appreciation certificates were awarded to SPARC club students and high-performing police units. Officials advised citizens who fall victim to fraud to immediately dial 1930 or lodge a report on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal.
