TGCSB Busts Delhi Cyber Call Centres, Arrests 21 Women from Telangana

The Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) has busted an extensive cybercrime network operating through fraudulent call centres in Delhi, leading to the arrest of 21 Telugu-speaking women and one male bank account holder. The women had been recruited from localities including Saidabad and Borabanda in Hyderabad, as well as Korutla and Mahbubnagar.

TGCSB Director Shikha Goel stated that coordinated raids were carried out at three separate call centres situated in Shiva Market in Delhi. While 22 individuals were taken into custody during the operation, three main organisers of the racket—identified as Lalith Singh, Kuldeep Singh, and Anil—are currently absconding.

Investigators revealed that the illicit network had been operational for 18 months, systematically targeting victims across the Telugu states. The organisers specifically sought out and recruited women aged 25 to 40 from Korutla, Saidabad, Borabanda, and Mahbubnagar. The telecallers were chosen for their fluency in the Telugu language, which allowed them to easily build rapport and win the trust of targeted individuals.

Explaining the modus operandi, officials noted that the telecallers impersonated staff members and representatives of a finance company. They contacted victims with deceptive offers of fake loan approvals. Once targets agreed to proceed, the callers instructed them to pay money under various fraudulent heads, such as processing fees, verification charges, documentation fees, and insurance charges.

After receiving the funds, the telecallers would either cut off all communication completely or demand even more money under false promises. If victims requested refunds or questioned the process, the telecallers resorted to aggressive intimidation and blackmail. They routinely threatened victims with legal action or warned that their personal documents would be misused.

During the operation at the Shiva Market call centres, TGCSB personnel seized 23 mobile phones and two bank passbooks used in the fraudulent operations. Officials confirmed that the network has already been linked to 22 separate cybercrime cases registered across Telangana, and further investigation into the operation remains underway.
