The Telangana Standards Authority for Food and Essential Drugs (TG SAFE) uncovered multiple hygiene and regulatory violations during a special inspection drive across seven restaurants in Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills, Tolichowki, and Gachibowli on Saturday, August 29.

Six enforcement teams comprising Food Safety Officers and police personnel conducted the drive across Hyderabad. During the checks, officials discovered expired food items, spoiled vegetables, poor hygiene, and pest infestations on the premises.

The inspections covered Chutneys, Spice 6, and Ohri’s in Banjara Hills, as well as The Spicy Venue in Jubilee Hills. In Tolichowki, enforcement teams inspected 4 Seasons Multicuisine Restaurant and Shah Ghouse Restaurant. Pista House Restaurant in Gachibowli was also inspected as part of the drive.

In addition to sanitary issues, officials identified improper handling and storage of food articles. The establishments were also found non-compliant with standard food safety labelling and display regulations.

Following the findings, officials lifted 11 food samples on suspicion of adulteration for further laboratory examination. TG SAFE also issued four improvement notices and three show-cause notices to the non-compliant restaurants.
