Tension in Kothur as Family of Accident Victim Protests Outside Police Station

Tension prevailed in Kothur in Ranga Reddy district on Thursday after family members and relatives of a 22-year-old road accident victim staged a protest with his body, demanding justice and alleging police inaction.

The victim, identified as Boggula Sai Goud, had sustained critical injuries in a road accident at Thimmapur on the Chegur road in Kothur mandal on Saturday night. He succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at a hospital on Thursday.

Following his death, his relatives and family members alleged that local police had failed to mention the name of the person responsible for the crash in the First Information Report. They claimed that the person responsible for causing the fatal accident was a minor and the son of a former MPP of Balanagar mandal.

Demanding immediate action, the family members attempted to carry Sai Goud's body to stage a demonstration directly in front of the Kothur police station. Police officers intercepted the procession near the Peddamma Thanda road, which triggered a heated argument between the officers and the protesters.

As the argument escalated outside the Kothur police station, additional police personnel were deployed to keep the situation from worsening. During the confrontation, some individuals among the crowd allegedly pelted police personnel with stones.

Addressing the incident, Shadnagar DCP C. Shirisha Raghavender stated that the allegations were based on a misunderstanding. She clarified that the minor boy who caused the accident had already been named as an accused in the case on the very day the incident occurred.

Police officials spoke with the family members to clear up the confusion regarding the case details. The victim's body was subsequently shifted to a hospital for a postmortem examination, and police confirmed that the situation in the area was brought under control.
