Telangana Waqf Board moves to correct Malkajgiri survey errors affecting 10,000 owners

Nearly 10,000 property owners in Malkajgiri have secured major relief after the Telangana Waqf Board acknowledged an error in its land records and moved to modify the 22-A prohibited list. The action comes after Malkajgiri MLA Marri Rajashekhar Reddy raised representations and followed up with state authorities on behalf of the affected residents.

The long-standing issue stemmed from a jurisdictional and village identification mistake in the Waqf Board's official property records. A set of survey numbers that belonged to Mallapur Village was incorrectly shown in the records as belonging to Malkajgiri Village. Because of this administrative error, the affected survey numbers were placed under the 22-A prohibited list, leaving property owners unable to complete land registrations or execute other property-related transactions.

The matter gained momentum when the Commissioner & Inspector General of Registration and Stamps, Telangana, sought clarification and verification of the Waqf property list. MLA Marri Rajashekhar Reddy submitted a formal representation requesting the removal of the affected survey numbers from the 22-A prohibited list based on documentary evidence.

After examining the matter in detail, the Telangana Waqf Board issued a communication dated 29 July 2026, officially establishing the distinction between the survey numbers belonging to Malkajgiri Village and those belonging to Mallapur Village.

The Board specifically recorded that Survey Nos. 3, 103, 104, 105, 145, 146, 147, and 148 to 154 pertain to Mallapur Village, whereas other survey numbers cited in the Gazette notification belong to Malkajgiri Village.

Following this verification, the Telangana Waqf Board has forwarded the entire matter for official correction of the Gazette and for the publication of the necessary modification in the Official Gazette.

Residents of Malkajgiri expressed their gratitude to MLA Marri Rajashekhar Reddy for taking up the issue with the concerned authorities, ensuring the matter was examined using relevant documentary evidence, and achieving a concrete resolution for the community.
