Telangana to Resume Rs 600 Crore Raidurg Land Allotted to IAMC

The Telangana government has decided to take back 3.70 acres of prime land in the Raidurg area, valued at around Rs 600 crore, which was allotted free of cost to the International Arbitration and Mediation Centre (IAMC) by the previous BRS administration. The decision follows the Supreme Court upholding the state government's cancellation of the allotment.

The Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC), which serves as the custodian of lands in Raidurg and Knowledge City, has initiated the process of resuming the land parcel and will report to the government for further directions. Formal resumption orders cancelling the earlier land allotment Government Order are expected to be issued soon.

The 3.70-acre plot in survey number 83/1 of Raidurg Panmakta village was originally allotted to the IAMC in 2021 without charging market value. In 2022, the previous state government also sanctioned Rs 3 crore in financial assistance to the centre. Former Chief Justice of India NV Ramana had played a key role in establishing the IAMC in Hyderabad, though the centre currently operates from a private facility in the Financial District.

The resumed plot is located within the Knowledge City corridor, one of the most expensive commercial property markets in the country. TGIIC has auctioned nearly 40 acres in the area over the past two years, including a one-acre plot in the same survey number that fetched a record Rs 264 crore. Officials stated that around 10 acres of litigation-free land remain in the survey number, including the resumed IAMC parcel, and could be auctioned in the future with expectations of at least Rs 200 crore per acre.

Despite the cancellation, government sources indicated that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy is open to allotting land to the IAMC at an alternative location if a fresh proposal is submitted. However, an industries department official noted that any future allotment would be made at market rates rather than free of cost.

Officials noted that while the government value of land in Raidurg is around Rs 24 crore per acre, land in the proposed Future City area is valued at roughly Rs 1 crore per acre. Sources also cited a recent allotment where the State Bank of India secured about 10 acres for a data centre project at Rs 4 crore per acre, including seven acres given in lieu of disputed land in Raidurg.
