Telangana to Pay Student Fee Reimbursement in Advance to Stop Certificate Holds

The Telangana government has decided to deposit funds earmarked for fee reimbursement in advance starting this academic year, ensuring college managements cannot withhold student certificates due to delays in fee clearance.

Under the new mechanism, the State has decided to credit ₹2,400 crore directly into the bank accounts of students, with ₹250 crore already earmarked as an advance payment. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced that the government will credit ₹2,300 crore annually towards fee reimbursement.

Speaking at a meeting organized in connection with the unveiling of statues of social reformers Mahatma Jyothirao Phule and Savitri Phule on Friday, the Chief Minister urged students to apply online for fee reimbursement to receive direct deposits. He said the administration is introducing major educational reforms, including breakfast programs for students starting from nursery levels.

Emphasizing the need for market-ready skills beyond engineering and medicine degrees, Mr. Revanth Reddy noted that Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) are being upgraded into Advanced Technology Centres (ATCs) in collaboration with the Tata Group. Students enrolled in these centres receive a monthly stipend of ₹2,000 alongside technical training.

Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka also addressed the gathering, stating that the government conducted a scientific socio, economic, education, employment, political, and caste census. He noted that the survey findings, which placed the Backward Classes population at 56 percent, would be implemented in upcoming local body elections.
