Telangana to Build Three New Airfields in Warangal Adilabad and Kothagudem

The Telangana government has announced plans to develop three new airfields across the state in Warangal, Adilabad, and Kothagudem to boost the region's aerospace and aviation sectors. Telangana Minister for Irrigation and Civil Supplies N Uttam Kumar Reddy shared the development during the inaugural session of the Aeromart Hyderabad 2026 event, revealing that the foundation stone for the proposed Warangal airfield is scheduled to be laid next month.
According to the minister, the second airfield, located in Adilabad, will be developed as a dual-use facility serving both civil and military aviation needs. Meanwhile, the state government is currently in discussions with the Central government to establish the third airfield in Kothagudem, with the proposal expected to receive its final approval soon.
The infrastructure expansion aims to strengthen Telangana's aerospace and defense ecosystem, enhancing both civil and military aviation capabilities. Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy highlighted that Telangana has emerged as a highly preferred investment destination for leading aerospace nations, including the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Italy, Japan, Israel, and Canada.
Also addressing the inaugural session, G Satheesh Reddy, a member of the National Security Advisory Board and former chairman of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), underscored India’s growing importance in the global aerospace and defense landscape. He encouraged greater collaboration between international companies and the Indian industry to leverage these new opportunities.
G Satheesh Reddy stated that the world is looking at India, noting that growth in manufacturing, exports, and innovation is creating unprecedented opportunities for the industry. He added that Hyderabad has successfully developed into a vibrant aerospace and defense ecosystem and is well positioned to play a leading role in global supply chains.
