Telangana teachers to launch protests from July 4 over PRC and NEP demands

The Telangana Prantha Upadhyaya Sangam (TPUS) announced on Saturday in Hyderabad that it will launch a series of protests starting July 4, 2026, to demand the implementation of the National Education Policy (2020) and a 51 percent Pay Revision Commission (PRC) fitment. The teachers' body is seeking to pressure the Telangana state government into addressing several long-pending financial and administrative grievances.

According to the protest schedule released by the association, the demonstrations will begin at the mandal and school levels on July 4, 2026. This will be followed by district-level sit-ins on July 14, 2026, and culminate in a major state-level dharna on July 22, 2026.

In a joint statement, TPUS President Vodnala Rajashekar and General Secretary Telkalapalli Pentayya explained that the protests are aimed at forcing the state government to address critical issues. Chief among these is the immediate acquisition and implementation of the PRC report with a 51 percent fitment for all teachers and government employees.

The union leaders also demanded that the state government release all pending bills for employees, teachers, and pensioners without any further delay. Additionally, they are calling for the immediate sanction of six pending dearness allowances (DAs) that have been delayed.

Beyond pay and allowances, the TPUS has raised several policy-related demands. The association is calling for the extension of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) to teachers recruited through the DSC 2003. They are also demanding the complete abolition of the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) and the restoration of the OPS for all government employees.

Other key demands highlighted by the union include the release of salaries for Model School teachers through the 010 budget head account. The TPUS is also urging the government to immediately release school grants and funds allocated for the Amma Adarsha Patashala scheme to ensure the smooth functioning of educational institutions across the state.
