Telangana Targets 20,000 MW Solar Power Capacity by 2030, Says Bhatti Vikramarka

Telangana is targeting a solar power capacity of 20,000 MW by 2030 and over 26,000 MW by 2035 to transform the state into a clean energy manufacturing hub, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka announced in Hyderabad on Tuesday.
Speaking at the inauguration of the two-day India Energy Summit & Expo 2026, Bhatti Vikramarka said the state government is actively working to establish Telangana as a preferred destination for global investors in the renewable energy sector.
Alongside solar expansion, the government is focusing on the integration of renewable energy into the grid. To support this, Telangana is planning to develop battery energy storage and pumped storage capacities of 3,800 MW by 2030, which will be scaled up to 8,000 MW by 2035.
The Deputy Chief Minister emphasised that achieving a complete energy transformation would require strong partnerships between the government and private sector. He invited investors, innovators, scientists, and chief executives from across the sector to collaborate with the state government on clean energy initiatives.
To attract investments, Bhatti Vikramarka outlined several incentives for manufacturers of solar, wind, and battery components. These include direct capital support, exemptions from electricity duty, and reimbursement of State Goods and Services Tax (SGST). The government will also provide fast-track project approvals through the TG-iPASS single-window system.
Highlighting the state's investor-friendly environment, Bhatti Vikramarka stated that Telangana promotes all forms of investment and stands ready to share its growth and prosperity with industry partners.
He added that the ongoing energy transition in Telangana is not merely a shift in power generation sources, but a broader transformation aimed at driving the state's overall economy.
