Telangana Retains Private Medical and Dental College Tuition Fees for 2026-29

The Telangana government has decided to retain the existing tuition fee structure for MBBS and BDS courses in private medical and dental colleges across the state for the 2026-29 block period. The order ensures that students seeking admissions in the 2026-27 academic year will not face increased charges, and applies to institutions including the Army College of Dental Sciences in Secunderabad.

According to the orders issued by the Health department, the fee framework established for the 2023-26 block period will continue unchanged for the next three years. The decision follows recommendations submitted by the Telangana Admission and Fee Regulatory Committee (TAFRC).

Under the existing structure, a student securing an MBBS seat under the A-category (competent authority quota) pays a tuition fee of Rs 60,000 per annum. For B-category (management quota) seats, the annual fee ranges between Rs 11.50 lakh and Rs 13 lakh. Private colleges are permitted to charge up to twice the B-category fee for C-category (NRI quota) admissions.

For BDS courses, the tuition fee remains fixed at Rs 45,000 per annum for A-category seats. B-category dental seats cost between Rs 4.20 lakh and Rs 5 lakh per annum, while institutions are authorised to charge up to 1.25 times the B-category rate for C-category admissions.

Tuition fees for private professional colleges in the state are subject to revision once every three years. Following a call for applications by the TAFRC, 27 private medical colleges and 12 private dental institutions submitted proposals requesting fee revisions. However, the committee observed that fees for MBBS and BDS programmes in the state, particularly under the B-category quota, are already high.

The government also specified that if any new private medical or dental colleges are established between 2026 and 2029, the minimum fee currently in force will apply to them.

Last year, private medical colleges offered more than 5,000 MBBS seats in Telangana. The Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS), which recently announced admissions under convener and management quotas, will display the seat matrix on its official website before candidates exercise web options for counselling.
