Telangana Property Value Hike Generates Rs 10 Crore Additional Daily Revenue

The Telangana State Government has recorded a significant boost in registration revenue, generating nearly Rs 10 crore in additional daily income following an upward revision of property market values that took effect on June 5. Despite a marginal decline in the number of property transactions, the Stamps and Registration Department saw collections rise sharply, particularly from Hyderabad and its rapidly developing surrounding suburban areas.
The Finance Department expressed satisfaction with the sustained growth, which has eased previous concerns regarding a potential slowdown in the local real estate sector. Officials attributed the revenue surge primarily to the increased registration values of open plots, apartments, and flats.
According to official data recorded up to June 25, the Stamps and Registration Department collected Rs 1,023.42 crore during the month. This represents a notable increase from the Rs 920 crore collected during the corresponding period last year. Finance officials expect the total revenue for June to comfortably cross Rs 1,100 crore, which would be nearly Rs 200 crore higher than the total recorded in June last year.
This revenue growth occurred despite a slight decrease in the overall volume of property transactions. Between June 1 and June 25 last year, a total of 1,02,513 agricultural and non-agricultural property documents were registered across Telangana. During the same period this year, registrations fell by 1,787 documents to stand at 1,00,726. Officials noted that the higher market values more than compensated for this minor decline.
The revenue surge followed a highly lucrative period in May, during which property owners rushed to register transactions before the revised values took effect. These advance registrations generated nearly Rs 1,700 crore for the state exchequer.
Daily revenue collections have shown strong momentum since the June 5 revision. The department collected Rs 50.79 crore on June 10, Rs 50.30 crore on June 11, and Rs 54.82 crore on June 12. The highest single-day collection of the month occurred on June 17, when registrations brought in Rs 97.94 crore. Since then, daily collections have consistently ranged between Rs 55 crore and Rs 75 crore.
