Telangana Power Staff Announce August 19 Maha Dharna at Vidyut Soudha

The Telangana Power Employees Joint Action Committee (TGPEJAC) has announced a "Maha Dharna" scheduled to take place at Vidyut Soudha in Hyderabad on August 19 at 11 am. The protest has been organised to demand the immediate resolution of long-pending issues affecting employees, artisans, and pensioners across TGTRANSCO, TGGENCO, TGSPDCL, and TGNPDCL.

Union leaders, including TGPEJAC chairman Saibaba, convener Ratnakar Rao, vice-chairman Vazeer, Tajuddin Baba, and Bhupal Reddy, officially unveiled the poster for the demonstration on Monday. The leaders expressed strong dissatisfaction over what they described as the management's indifferent response to their representations.

According to the JAC, a memorandum was submitted on June 18 requesting a joint meeting to address various institutional and service-related problems. However, despite subsequent protest notices, the management failed to initiate talks, prompting the committee to organise the mass dharna.

A primary point of contention is the proposed outsourcing of the operation and maintenance of the Coal Handling Plant and Ash Handling Plant at the Yadadri Thermal Power Station (YTPS). Power employees have been actively opposing the move through various agitations for more than 45 days.

TGPEJAC leadership has urged all power sector workers, staff, and artisans across the state to assemble in large numbers at Vidyut Soudha on August 19 to push for their demands.
