Telangana Police Upgrade Dial 112 and Deploy AI Systems for Faster Emergency Response

Telangana Police are upgrading their operational infrastructure by introducing artificial intelligence tools, revamping departmental software, and deploying drones to enhance investigations, real-time data sharing, and emergency response across the state, Director General of Police CV Anand stated in Hyderabad.
The technological push follows the operational rollout of the centralised Dial-112 distress call centre across Telangana. The department is actively upgrading core platforms, including CCTNS 2.0, TG COP 2.0, and dedicated modules for tracking cybercrime and narcotics. Officials are also configuring portals required for the implementation of new criminal laws, including Nyaya Shruti, the Inter-Operable Criminal Justice System (ICJS), and NATGRID.
DGP Anand explained that the department is intensifying its focus on technology following a period of inadequate monitoring and a slide in national rankings. A police officer stated that the transformation phase aims to use AI to reduce the workload of constables and field-level personnel by providing them with faster access to information once initial case details are entered into the system.
Under the enhanced Dial-112 setup, the call desk has the capacity to handle up to 900 calls simultaneously. When a person calls the emergency desk, the conversation is automatically recorded, and AI software transcribes the audio into text within seconds, replacing manual entry. The caller receives a link on their mobile device to provide their precise location. The system then transmits the distress information to the concerned local police station, completing the entire dispatch process in less than one minute.
The integrated Dial-112 framework is designed to coordinate emergency responses across multiple departments, including police, fire services, disaster management, child help, and women safety teams.
Alongside investigation portals, the police force is utilising drones capable of travelling one kilometre in about one minute at speeds of 60 km/h. These drones will be deployed during road emergencies, major incidents, and law-and-order issues to transmit live feeds to commanders on the ground. DGP Anand added that AI technology and drones will play a key role in arrangements and predictive crowd management during next year's Pushkaralu.
