Telangana Police Units Celebrate Independence Day, Honour Officers and Detail New Safety Plans

Police departments across Hyderabad and Telangana marked the 80th Independence Day on Saturday with flag-hoisting ceremonies and parades across commissionerates, including Lakdikapul and Petlaburj, where senior officers highlighted technology-driven policing, narcotics enforcement, and public safety initiatives.

Several police personnel were also honoured by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy with awards recognising their exemplary and meritorious service, professional conduct, and dedication to public policing.

At the City Armed Reserve (CAR) Headquarters in Petlaburj, Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar unfurled the national flag, received the Guard of Honour, and presented certificates of appreciation to 72 police personnel. Sajjanar detailed measures against cybercrime, food adulteration, and narcotics. He noted that the H-FAST unit was established to tackle food adulteration, while Operation Octopus and the C-Mitra virtual police officer initiative were addressing cyber offences, with over 1,700 Zero FIRs registered through C-Mitra.

Sajjanar also highlighted the Spandana instant protection system for women, which handles approximately 30 complaints daily, and announced that 300 women personnel would receive specialised driving training. Additionally, the H-NEW narcotics enforcement wing has been strengthened to counter drug networks.

At the DGP office in Lakdikapul, Inspector General of Police (Multi-Zone-II) Shahnawaz Qasim hoisted the tricolour alongside senior officers. In the Cyberabad Police Commissionerate, Commissioner M. Ramesh hoisted the flag, took the salute, and presented Uttama Seva medals to four personnel and Seva medals to 15 others, stressing the vital role of law enforcement in maintaining an environment conducive to industrial growth and investments.

In Malkajgiri, Commissioner B. Sumathi led celebrations with personnel reiterating commitments to citizen-centric policing. At the newly established Future City Commissionerate headquarters in Ibrahimpatnam, Commissioner Tarun Joshi outlined the 'SMART, SAFE, SECURE' framework, emphasising technology, data integration, and impartial policing focused on women, children, and vulnerable groups.

At the State Institute of Correctional Administration in Chanchalguda, Director General of Prisons and Correctional Services Soumya Mishra reviewed a 12-platoon parade of 316 trainees and personnel. Mishra highlighted that 78 inmates cleared Class X exams through the National Institute of Open Schooling, presented 25 appreciation certificates, and felicitated Deputy Jailor Chakrala Raju for receiving the President’s Medal for Meritorious Service.
