The Women Safety Wing (WSW) of the Telangana Police organized a Training of Trainers (ToT) programme under its flagship 'Stand with Her' campaign on Friday at the National Institute for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (NI-MSME) in Yousufguda, Hyderabad. The initiative aimed to equip Lecturers and Assistant Professors from Government Degree Colleges and Universities across Telangana to act as Master Trainers who will roll out the behavioral change campaign in their respective institutions.

The 'Stand with Her' campaign is a behavioral change initiative that encourages men and boys to recognize and call out inappropriate behaviors, challenge gender stereotypes, and actively stand with women to create safe, respectful, and inclusive educational institutions and communities.

During the session, the Master Trainers participated in interactive sessions led by Asiya Sherwani, Head of Training for the WSW, and a team of experienced facilitators. The training focused on gender sensitivity, identifying inappropriate behaviors, bystander intervention, facilitation techniques, and practical strategies for implementing the campaign in higher educational institutions.

The inaugural session was attended by several prominent officials, including Charu Sinha, Director-General of the WSW, and Parimala Hana Nutan, Deputy-Inspector General of Police, WSW. Dr. Rajendra Singh, Joint Director of the Department of Education, Dr. Soundarya Joseph from the Department of School Education, and Asiya Sherwani were also present.

Addressing the participants, Charu Sinha emphasized that preventing gender-based violence requires the active participation of men and boys, noting that educational institutions play a crucial role in shaping attitudes and behaviors.

Dr. Rajendra Singh highlighted the responsibility of teachers in nurturing values of equality, dignity, and mutual respect among students. He also appreciated the collaborative efforts between the Women Safety Wing and the Department of Education.

With the completion of this training, the Master Trainers are expected to lead similar programs in their respective institutions. This will establish a statewide network of educators dedicated to promoting gender-sensitive campuses across Telangana.
