Telangana Police Academy Hosts POSH Act Session for 112 Probationary DSPs

An awareness programme focusing on the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act and women’s safety at the workplace was organised at the Telangana Police Academy on Saturday, June 27, 2026. The special training session was conducted to sensitise a batch of 112 probationary Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) about the legal frameworks and safety measures designed to protect women in professional environments.
CID DGP Charu Sinha attended the training session as the chief guest. She participated in the programme following an official invitation from the Telangana Police Academy Director, Abhilash Bisht. During her address, Sinha detailed the various legal provisions under the POSH Act to the participating probationary officers.
In her address, DGP Sinha explained that sexual harassment at workplaces is not restricted to direct actions alone. She pointed out that such harassment can also manifest through words, behaviour, gestures, and other forms of inappropriate conduct. She stressed the importance of prompt recognition, urging women to identify such incidents quickly and actively utilise the legal safeguards provided under the Act.
To illustrate her points to the trainee officers, Sinha utilised several real-life examples during the session. She emphasised that every police officer bears a significant responsibility to actively ensure a safe and secure working environment for women.
Isha Sharwani, a counsellor with the Women’s Safety Wing, also addressed the probationary officers during the event. Sharwani spoke in detail about the various psychological, social, and professional challenges that women frequently face throughout their careers.
Additionally, Sharwani explained the different forms that sexual harassment can take and discussed effective ways to address these issues. She urged the future DSPs to develop a thorough and sound understanding of the laws related to women’s safety and dignity, while also taking steps to create greater awareness about these legal protections within the wider society.
