Telangana Photographic Society Honours Five at Inaugural Awards in CCRT, Hyderabad

The Telangana Photographic Society (TPS) launched its inaugural awards during its World Photography Day celebration and annual dinner held at the Centre for Cultural Resources and Training (CCRT) in Hyderabad. The awards honoured five individuals and institutions for their contributions to photography, education, conservation, and the broader photographic community.
Around 150 photographers, senior members, industry representatives, and guests attended the gathering. The event commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp in the presence of composer and filmmaker R.P. Patnaik along with representatives from the photography industry.
Speaking on the occasion, TPS president Arvind Chenji stated that the awards were instituted based on the belief that photography relies not only on creators of images, but also on individuals and organisations who teach, mentor, support conservation efforts, and create new opportunities for photographers.
The inaugural honours were conferred upon five recipients across various domains of photography. The awardees included Abhimanyu, the founder of FotoTech Magazine, Photo Trade Expo, and Photo Parivar India; wildlife photographer and Nikon India ambassador Subhash Nair; and Indian Photo Festival founder Aquin Mathews.
The society also presented awards to academician and wildlife photographer Prof. Jitender Govindani, as well as V. G. Chimalgi, a Hyderabad-based photographic institution established in 1924.
