Telangana Native Punna Hari Prasad Arrested in Goa Prostitution Raid Near Calangute

A 33-year-old man originally hailing from Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district in Telangana was arrested by the Goa Crime Branch during an anti-human trafficking raid near the Palmirna Resort in Calangute, Bardez, North Goa. The operation, which took place in the early hours of Wednesday, also resulted in the rescue of a woman who was allegedly being exploited in a prostitution racket.

The accused has been identified as Punna Hari Prasad. According to the police, Prasad is a native of Telangana who was currently residing in the Arpora area of North Goa.

Acting on specific information regarding an active prostitution racket, the Goa Crime Branch organized and executed the raid near the resort in Calangute. During the operation, police intercepted Prasad as he arrived at the location on a scooter. Investigators stated that he was attempting to transport the woman to prospective clients for the purpose of prostitution.

Following the raid, the Goa Crime Branch successfully rescued the woman from the exploitation. The police then arrested Prasad at the scene.

The police have registered a formal case against Prasad under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act.

The anti-human trafficking operation was conducted under the direct supervision of Jivba Dalvi, the Superintendent of Police for the Goa Crime Branch. Officials stated that the raid is part of the Crime Branch's ongoing and systematic crackdown on human trafficking and prostitution rackets operating within the state.
