Telangana MLC Venkatram Reddy Denies Son Bharat Reddy Arrested in Drug Case

Telangana MLC Venkatram Reddy on Thursday strongly denied reports circulating in the media that his son, Bharat Reddy, had been arrested by the Mangalhat police in Hyderabad in connection with a drug case. The legislator clarified that the police had only conducted an inquiry and found no evidence of drug consumption or involvement.

In an official statement released to clarify the situation to the public, the MLC characterized the news reports as "baseless and untrue." He stated categorically that his son had neither consumed any illicit substances nor been taken into custody by the law enforcement authorities at any point during the police visit.

According to Venkatram Reddy, officials from the Mangalhat police station visited their residence on Thursday morning. The police officers informed the family that they were conducting an inquiry related to a drug case and sought their cooperation for the ongoing investigation.

The MLC stated that the police conducted their inquiry at the residence, which ultimately revealed that his son had not consumed any drugs. He confirmed that Bharat Reddy was not arrested and has absolutely no involvement in any drug-related activity.

Providing context on why the police visited their home, Venkatram Reddy explained that the inquiry was initiated based on information linked to a phone number. This phone number was found in the contact list of one of Bharat’s common friends. As part of their routine investigation, the police questioned the concerned persons to verify the details.

The MLC urged the general public and the media not to believe the ongoing rumours circulating on various platforms. He reiterated that the reports claiming his son’s arrest and his alleged involvement in drug consumption were completely incorrect and urged citizens to disregard the baseless claims.
