Telangana Legislature Appoints Chairpersons For Legislative Committees In Hyderabad

The Telangana Legislature in Hyderabad on Monday announced the constitution of various Welfare, Joint, Legislative Assembly, and Legislative Council Committees for the 2026-27 legislative term. The announcement included the appointment of chairpersons to lead these panels, which will oversee key policy areas and welfare schemes across the state.
The 11-member Committee on Subordinate Legislation will be chaired by Station Ghanpur MLA Kadiyam Srihari. The Speaker of the Assembly has been appointed to lead both the Committee on Amenities and the Committee on Wildlife and Environment Protection.
Several MLAs were appointed to head crucial welfare committees. Choppadandi MLA Medipally Sathyam was named Chairman of the Committee on Welfare for Scheduled Castes, and Pinapaka MLA Payam Venkateswarlu was appointed Chairman of the Committee on Welfare for Scheduled Tribes. Ramagundam MLA Makhan Singh Raj Thakur will lead the Committee on Welfare of Backward Classes.
Additionally, Sathupally MLA Matta Ragamayee was appointed as the Chairman of the Committee on Library. Narayanpet MLA Chittem Parnika Reddy will head the Committee on Welfare of Women, Children, Disabled and the Old Aged, while Jukkal MLA Laxmi Kantha Rao Thota was named Chairman of the Committee on Welfare of Minorities.
For the Legislative Assembly Committees, the Deputy Speaker will serve as the Chairman for both the Committee on Petitions and the Committee on Privileges. Narayankhed MLA Patlolla Sanjeeva Reddy was named Chairman of the Committee on Government Assurances. The Speaker will lead the Rules Committee, and Parkal MLA Revuri Prakash Reddy was appointed Chairman of the Committee on Ethics.
The Legislative Council Committees were also constituted. The Deputy Chairman will lead the Council's Committee on Petitions and Privileges. Kethavat Shankar was appointed Chairman of the Committee on Government Assurances, and the Council Chairman will head the Committee on Rules. Challa Venkatram Reddy will lead the Committee on Papers Laid on the Table, while Mahesh Kumar Goud was named Chairman of the Committee on Ethics.
