Telangana Invites Overseas Scholarship Applications for 350 BC and EBC Students

The Telangana government has announced the Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Overseas Vidya Nidhi Scheme to provide financial assistance to Backward Classes (BC) and Economically Backward Classes (EBC) students planning to study abroad.
According to an official notification issued in Hyderabad by the Commissioner of BC Welfare, B Bala Maya Devi, applications for the scheme will be accepted from September 1 to September 30, 2026. A total of 350 students will be selected under the initiative, with 250 seats allocated for BC candidates and 100 seats reserved for EBC candidates.
The scheme is designed to support eligible students who are pursuing or planning to pursue post-graduation, PhD, and other higher education programmes in foreign universities.
To qualify for the overseas education scholarship, an applicant's annual family income must be below Rs 5 lakh. The applicant must not be older than 35 years of age and must have obtained a minimum of 60 percent marks in their undergraduate degree.
In addition to academic and income requirements, candidates must fulfill standardized examination benchmarks. Applicants must secure a minimum score of 260 in the GRE or 500 in the GMAT. For English language proficiency requirements, candidates must achieve a score of at least 60 in the TOEFL, an overall band score of 6.0 in the IELTS, or a score of 50 in the PTE.
Eligible students who meet all academic, age, income, and qualifying examination criteria can apply online through the official Telangana ePASS portal during the scheduled application window.
