Telangana High Court Stays Order Halting Bar Council Enrolments

The Telangana High Court in Hyderabad on Friday ordered an interim stay on a single judge's August 11 order that had kept the enrolment process of the Bar Council of Telangana in abeyance. The decision clears the way for the long-awaited enrolment of law graduates across the state.
A division bench comprising Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh and Justice GM Mohiuddin issued the directions while hearing an appeal filed by law graduate Kaluva Bhuvana Srija Reddy. Reddy had approached the division bench challenging the single judge's order and seeking the restoration of the enrolment process for herself and other similarly placed candidates.
Appearing for the appellant, counsel Baglekar Akash Kumar argued that the blanket stay imposed by the single judge directly impacted numerous law graduates who were waiting to be enrolled with the Bar Council of Telangana.
Reddy, who was not a party to the original writ petition that challenged the constitution of the Bar Council's interim enrolment committee, submitted that she had completed all required formalities and paid the prescribed fees. She was originally scheduled to take the enrolment oath on August 13.
Her counsel contended that the August 11 direction to the committee to keep the entire enrolment process in abeyance had resulted in her enrolment being postponed indefinitely. Following the division bench's interim stay, the interim enrolment committee can proceed with the enrolment process.
