Telangana High Court Seeks Govt Reply on TGIIC Auction of Heritage Land in Raidurg

The Telangana High Court has directed the state government to file counters in a petition challenging an e-auction notification issued by the Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation Limited (TGIIC) to sell approximately 10 acres of land classified as a heritage precinct in Raidurg Panmaktha village in Rangareddy district.
The petitioner, Ravindranath Soory, approached the court contending that the land parcels, located near Durgam Cheruvu, were classified and officially recorded as a heritage precinct under a 2003 government order (GO). The petition stated that the proposed e-auction runs contrary to the GO as well as earlier reports by technical committees that recommended preserving the area's heritage features, including its natural rock formations.
Senior counsel V Hariharan, appearing for the petitioner, submitted that the authorities had previously set up technical committees to examine the land. A committee formed in 2013 and a fresh technical committee constituted in January 2026 had identified specific portions in survey number 83/1 that required preservation, recommending protection measures for the rock formations.
The petitioner argued that a subsequent technical committee report contradicted the earlier recommendations and was being used to facilitate the sale of the heritage precinct land.
The petitioner has sought a stay on further proceedings related to the e-auction notification pending disposal of the petition. The plea also requested directions restraining TGIIC from confirming any bids or creating third-party rights over the land parcels.
Additional Advocate General T Rajnikanth Reddy appeared before the High Court on behalf of TGIIC as the court sought the government's response on the matter.
