Telangana Govt Reconstitutes HGCL Board with 10 Members

HYDERABAD — The Telangana government has reconstituted the board of directors of Hyderabad Growth Corridor Limited (HGCL) with 10 members to handle the growing scale and magnitude of infrastructure projects in the capital region.

The restructured board incorporates key civic leadership across the Core Urban Region Economy (CURE) area, including the commissioners of all three municipal corporations and the commissioner of the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA).

Under the new structure, the Special Chief Secretary of the Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) department will serve as the chairman of the HGCL board. The Metropolitan Commissioner of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has been designated as the vice-chairman, while the HGCL managing director will continue in the role of managing director.

According to the MA&UD department, the board was expanded and strengthened to include relevant line departments and key stakeholders. The primary objective of the revamp is to ensure effective coordination, integrated implementation, and holistic planning of ongoing and upcoming projects. The government also noted that this structure aims to facilitate smoother land acquisition and ensure the timely completion of crucial infrastructure works.

The nominee directors on the reconstituted board comprise the commissioners of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC), and Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation (MMC).

In addition to the civic commissioners and the HYDRAA commissioner, the board includes top leadership from essential utility and transport bodies. The managing directors of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB), Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL), and Hyderabad Airport Metro Limited (HAML) will also serve as nominee directors on the revamped board.
