Telangana Govt Hands Over Plot Documents to 387 Yacharam Farmers

The Telangana state government handed over registration documents for 121-square-yard developed plots to 387 farmers on Tuesday, initiating the first phase of plot distribution for land oustees in Yacharam mandal of Rangareddy district. The land was originally acquired for the Hyderabad Pharma City project under the previous BRS administration, but the current Congress government has decided to utilize the site to develop Bharat Future City.

This initial phase of document distribution covered farmers who had surrendered less than five acres of land. The developed plots are situated in a 620-acre mega venture located in Panjaguda, within the Mirakhanpet revenue village limits, where plot numbers were previously assigned through a lottery system.

Under the original acquisition drive, the state sought 19,333 acres of assigned and patta land for Pharma City. More than 7,800 acres were acquired across four villages in Yacharam mandal: Nakkarta Medipalli, Nanaknagar, Tadiparthi, and Kurmidda.

At the time of acquisition, assigned patta landowners received compensation of Rs 8 lakh per acre, while occupants of government land received Rs 7.7 lakh per acre. Private patta landowners were paid over Rs 35 lakh per acre in instalments, starting at Rs 12.5 lakh. Following local protests against the project, the government agreed to allot a 121-square-yard developed plot for every acre surrendered, in addition to the financial payouts.

Although the Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC) registered the plots at its own expense last year, the physical registration documents were not handed over to beneficiaries during the previous government's tenure. More than 1,100 patta farmers across the four villages surrendered land for the project.

While the first phase of documents was distributed on Tuesday, document handover for assigned-land farmers has been delayed due to suspected irregularities. After issuing certificates to 5,720 assigned and patta farmers, officials identified more than 250 suspected fake beneficiaries claiming assigned land.

The suspected fake claims include approximately 120 cases in Nakkarta Medipalli, 80 in Nanaknagar, 60 in Tadiparthi, and over 90 in Kurmidda. The state government has launched an inquiry into the matter. Village leaders have submitted lists of suspected fake beneficiaries to Ibrahimpatnam MLA Malreddy Ranga Reddy and Rangareddy Collector C. Narayana Reddy, and distribution to flagged individuals remains on hold pending verification.
