Telangana Governor and CM urge youth to join fight against drug abuse

On Friday, 26 June 2026, Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla and Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy issued a public appeal from Hyderabad, calling on citizens, particularly the youth, to actively join the fight against drug abuse and illicit trafficking. The joint call was made on the occasion of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking to help build a drug-free society.

To mark the occasion in the state, Telangana Legislative Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar flagged off a 2k run in the district headquarters town of Vikarabad.

In his official message on the occasion, Governor Shukla emphasized that drug abuse is extremely harmful to individuals, families, and the wider society. He urged the public, especially the younger generation, to adopt healthy lifestyles and join hands to realize the vision of a 'Drug-free Telangana – Drug-free India.'

Chief Minister Reddy highlighted the severe consequences of narcotics, stating that they not only destroy individuals and families but also lead to significant law and order problems. He stressed the importance of social responsibility and alertness among citizens to check the spread of drug abuse and illicit trafficking.

Reddy called upon the public to make active efforts to promote positive thoughts among the youth and to actively participate in the state-wide mission to eliminate drugs from Telangana.
