Telangana Government Examines AI Traffic Management System for Hyderabad

On Wednesday, July 1, 2026, the Telangana government examined a proposal to implement an AI-enabled intelligent traffic management system to integrate traffic signals and reduce congestion in Hyderabad. The proposal was discussed during a meeting chaired by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy at the MCR HRD Institute.

The proposed system is designed to improve overall traffic flow and ease congestion across the city, particularly during heavy rains. During the high-level meeting, technology firms Analog and MEIL presented a pilot project on technology-driven urban traffic management.

The meeting featured key representatives, including Chief Minister Reddy, Analog Founder and CEO Alex Kipman, and MEIL Managing Director P Krishna Reddy. During the presentation, the Chief Minister suggested leveraging advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence and physical intelligence, to modernise Hyderabad’s urban infrastructure and enable real-time traffic regulation.

Analog and MEIL showcased specialized solutions based on sensors, robotics, and intelligent infrastructure. These technologies are capable of dynamically adjusting traffic signals based on real-time traffic conditions. In addition to regulating traffic, the proposed systems can detect water leaks, optimise power distribution, and facilitate the faster movement of emergency services, such as ambulances and fire services.

The discussions at the MCR HRD Institute also focused on the development of "cognitive cities." This concept involves using data-driven infrastructure planning to improve government efficiency and enhance citizen services.

To formalise the partnership, Analog and MEIL signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the presence of Chief Minister Reddy. This agreement aims to strengthen technical collaboration between the two companies and promote innovation-led infrastructure development in the state of Telangana.
