Telangana Generates 15 Lakh SIR Notices But Serves Only 650 Electors

The distribution of voter verification notices across Telangana is moving at a slow pace, with election authorities serving only about 650 notices out of the 15 lakh generated so far, Chief Electoral Officer C Sudharshan Reddy announced on Friday.
The exercise is part of the state's ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls following the publication of draft voter lists on August 17. The CEO stated that the delivery process is expected to gain momentum over the next two days across the state.
Across Telangana, a total of 92.8 lakh electors are scheduled to receive notices. This includes 60.5 lakh voters who were flagged for data anomalies in their enumeration forms, alongside another 32.3 lakh electors whose entries could not be mapped to the previous 2002 SIR electoral rolls.
In Hyderabad, the physical delivery of notices has not yet commenced but is slated to begin within a couple of days. Officials noted that the delay in the district occurred because notices are currently being printed in English.
Hyderabad district alone accounts for roughly 12.5 lakh electors who are slated to receive notices. Within the district, 5,80,908 voters have been classified as unmapped, while 6,72,678 electors were flagged for specific anomalies in their records.
The volume of unmapped voters is particularly high in the state's primary urban belt. Across the core region comprising Hyderabad, Medchal Malkajgiri, and Rangareddy districts, a combined total of 23.26 lakh electors have been categorized as unmapped.
