Telangana Forms Panel to Resolve Section 22-A Land Disputes by August

Minister for Revenue and Housing Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy has announced the formation of a high-level committee to address and resolve issues related to Section 22-A prohibited lands, following a review meeting held at the Secretariat in Hyderabad.

Briefing the media after the review meeting, the minister apologised for the hardships and difficulties faced by common citizens due to past administrative oversights in land classification. He stated that clear instructions have now been issued to officials across all districts to process and resolve all pending Section 22-A applications by the end of August.

To assist citizens facing grievances, the state has established a dedicated toll-free helpline with the number 1800 5994788. The minister stated that any individual who submits a grievance through this system will receive a formal response within three days, after which appropriate measures will be taken to reach a resolution.

Srinivasa Reddy also directed administrative and registration officials to maintain transparency when handling land registration requests. In cases where a registration cannot be processed, officials must provide clear and specific reasons to the applicant explaining why the transaction was denied. Furthermore, the minister instructed officials to refund registration fees to applicants who have already made payments for transactions that cannot proceed.

In addition to the measures on prohibited lands, the minister stated that the government will prepare a comprehensive report regarding Bhoodan lands across the state. This report is slated to cover pending issues, ongoing disputes, and potential solutions to settle long-standing matters. Srinivasa Reddy assured the public that genuine landowners will not face any injustice regarding the classification of their properties as prohibited lands.
