Telangana Forensic Science Lab Inducts 57 Experts at Hyderabad HQ

The Director General of Police (DGP) of Telangana handed over appointment orders to 57 newly recruited forensic experts at the Telangana Forensic Science Laboratory (TGFSL) headquarters in Hyderabad. The induction aims to strengthen scientific investigations and speed up case disposal across the state.

The ceremony marked a significant addition to the state's forensic service delivery, particularly in handling digital forensics, DNA analysis, toxicology, and narcotics cases.

Speaking at the function, Principal Secretary (Home) and Director of TGFSL, Shikha Goel, highlighted the laboratory's performance despite operating with limited scientific manpower. She stated that TGFSL experts handle one of the highest individual caseloads in the country while consistently maintaining a disposal rate above 80 per cent.

In 2025 alone, the laboratory examined and disposed of 18,647 cases, achieving an 86 per cent disposal rate. Goel explained that the laboratory has significantly upgraded its technical capabilities in computer forensics, DNA analysis, toxicology, and narcotics to keep pace with modern crime trends.

Highlighting the academic credentials of the new cohort, Goel shared that the batch consists of 35 PhD holders, 12 MSc graduates, five MTech graduates, and three MCA graduates. She noted that their induction would substantially boost service delivery and scientific expertise.

While addressing the recruits, the DGP stressed the growing necessity of scientific evidence under the new criminal laws. He urged the new experts to dedicate themselves to forensic science, continually refine their professional skills, and ensure the timely and accurate examination of evidence in high-profile and sensitive cases without compromising quality.

The DGP commended the laboratory's staff for maintaining high standards despite existing constraints and assured full official support for strengthening workforce capacity, advanced equipment, infrastructure, and operational needs going forward.
