Telangana Food Safety Officials Suspend Dairy Licenses and Seize Unsafe Food in Raids

Telangana Food Safety Officials conducted a series of inspections and raids on Wednesday, and on July 7 and 8, uncovering severe hygiene violations, pest infestations, and misbranded products across Malkajgiri, Sangareddy, Cyberabad, Kukatpally, and Madhapur. The enforcement drive resulted in the seizure of unsafe and expired food items, alongside the suspension of dairy licenses for two units in Sangareddy.

During the raids in Sangareddy on July 7 and 8, Commissioner of Food Safety teams inspected two dairy units: Saraswathi Dairy Products India and Divya Enterprises. Officials discovered misbranded dairy products, including curd and paneer with misleading labels, expired laboratory chemicals used for food testing, poor hygiene, inadequate records, pest infestation, and structural deficiencies. Consequently, the licenses of both dairy enterprises were suspended.

In Malkajgiri, officials inspected Palamuru Grill in Uppal, where they seized approximately five kilograms of pest-infested moong dal. The inspectors also found expired flavouring agents, unhygienic and disorganised storage areas, and five packets of sweet saunf lacking expiry dates.

Within the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation limits, officials seized synthetic food colours from Arabian Mandi. The establishment had also failed to maintain water testing reports and medical fitness certificates for its food handlers.

In Kukatpally, inspectors visited the Siddique Khanna Centre near the BJP office. They reported improperly stored meat, water stagnation in the wash area, overflowing dustbins, a lack of hot water for sanitising utensils, and inadequate storage space.

Further violations were found at the Shree Dwaraka Grand cloud kitchen, which was operating with an expired FSSAI license while processing online orders. Officials at this location seized expired butter and chana dal, and observed four to five cats inside the kitchen, which was also infested with cockroaches and flies.

At Wine Dine Kitchen & Bar near Rainbow Vistas, inspectors discovered rat droppings in the dal storage area, expired mushrooms, improper segregation of vegetarian and non-vegetarian food, rusting freezers, and an absence of medical fitness certificates for food handlers.

Meanwhile, following a recent food safety inspection, Mehfil restaurant at Hitec City in Madhapur installed live kitchen display screens to allow customers to view food preparation activities.
