Telangana Food Safety Department Seizes 10 Kg of Raw Egg Mayonnaise, Books 5 Eateries

The Telangana Food Safety Department has conducted a statewide special enforcement drive in Hyderabad and across Telangana to crack down on the use of banned raw egg mayonnaise. The targeted operation resulted in the inspection of 131 food establishments and the booking of five violating eateries.

The statewide drive was organized by state government authorities to ensure compliance with the government’s notification banning the production, storage, and sale of mayonnaise made from raw eggs. Food safety officials inspected a wide range of food establishments to verify that they were adhering to the newly established safety standards. The ban specifically targets the production, storage, and sale of mayonnaise made from raw eggs, making any such activity illegal across the state of Telangana.

During the inspections, officials identified five eateries that were violating the prohibition. The authorities seized and destroyed approximately 10 kilograms of unsafe mayonnaise on the spot. The seized mayonnaise was found to have been prepared using raw eggs or broken eggs, which is strictly prohibited under the current state ban. The destruction of the 10 kilograms of unsafe mayonnaise was executed immediately during the inspections to prevent any potential health risks to consumers.

Following the inspections, the department initiated adjudication proceedings against the five violating eateries. The legal actions are being pursued under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, for breaching food safety norms.

The Telangana Food Safety Department reiterated its commitment to safeguarding public health through strict enforcement of food safety regulations. Officials have warned that they will continue to monitor food establishments across the state to ensure full compliance with the ban.

In addition to the enforcement drive, the department has urged citizens to report any violations. Members of the public who observe eateries producing, storing, or selling raw egg mayonnaise are encouraged to report these activities through the department's official channels.
