Telangana Fire Department Trains 600 Civil Defence Volunteers In Hyderabad

The Telangana Fire, Disaster Response, Emergency and Civil Defence Department launched a five-day training programme for Civil Defence volunteers in Hyderabad on Tuesday. The specialized training sessions are being conducted at Malla Reddy Deemed-to-be University and Veeranari Chakali Ilamma Women's University to prepare citizens for emergency situations.

A total of 600 Civil Defence volunteers are participating in this disaster response initiative. The department has divided the participants into two batches across the selected venues. At Malla Reddy Deemed-to-be University, a large group of 400 volunteers is undergoing the training. Meanwhile, the second batch of 200 volunteers is attending the programme at Veeranari Chakali Ilamma Women's University.

The primary objective of this five-day initiative is to equip the local volunteers with the necessary practical skills required to provide immediate emergency assistance. The training is designed to ensure these volunteers can effectively support professional rescue and relief operations during natural disasters and other unforeseen emergencies.

Throughout the five days, the volunteers are receiving comprehensive practical training in several critical areas. The curriculum covers firefighting techniques, rescue operations, and the administration of first aid. Additionally, the participants are being trained in crowd management, general disaster preparedness, community awareness, and the execution of relief operations.

Director General Vikram Singh Mann highlighted the significance of the initiative for the state's safety infrastructure. He stated that the trained volunteers will play a key role in strengthening disaster preparedness across Telangana.

According to the Director General, these volunteers will serve as a crucial support system during emergencies. They are expected to work alongside and assist the Fire Services Department, the Police Department, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and other government line departments when crises arise.
