Telangana families of Dubai crash victims receive Rs 26 lakh in relief

On 7 July 2026, the families of three Telangana migrant workers who lost their lives in a Dubai road crash began receiving Rs 26 lakh each in financial assistance. Representatives of UAE-based Indian entrepreneur Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil travelled to the victims' homes in Namilikonda and Thakkallapalle in Jagitial district, and Kadem in Nirmal district, to distribute the funds as part of a Rs 2.6 crore humanitarian relief package.
The relief distribution follows a fatal accident on Emirates Road in Dubai, UAE, in June. In that incident, a minibus carrying workers collided with a stationary truck. The crash left seven people dead and nine others injured. The victims were later identified as migrant workers, and the tragedy prompted widespread grief and support efforts across both the UAE and India.
Among those who died in the crash were three migrant workers from rural Telangana. The deceased have been identified as 51-year-old Saleem Sayyed Hussain from Namilikonda in Jagitial district, 37-year-old Abdul Rafiq Abdul Raheem from Kadem in Nirmal district, and 23-year-old Thirupathi Gollapally Chandraiah from Thakkallapalle in Jagitial district.
To support the bereaved families, Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil announced a Rs 2.6 crore humanitarian recovery programme. Representatives from his office travelled across rural Telangana and Uttar Pradesh to meet with the affected families in person, convey their condolences and support, and hand over the financial aid.
Through this initiative, the family of each deceased worker is receiving Rs 26 lakh. In addition to the immediate financial assistance, further educational support for the children of the affected families is currently being assessed. Representatives from Dr. Shamsheer's office plan to coordinate this educational assistance directly with the families.
