Telangana Excise Department Arrests Three, Seizes Ganja and Liquor in Hyderabad Raids

The Telangana Excise Department arrested three individuals and seized 3.92 kg of ganja, 584 bottles of illicit and non-duty-paid liquor, and 364 litres of illicitly distilled liquor during a series of enforcement drives in King Koti, LB Nagar, and Nizampet. The state-wide operations targeted drug peddling and the smuggling of non-duty-paid liquor.
In the King Koti area of Hyderabad, an enforcement team conducted a raid on a local house. During the search, officials seized 2.4 kg of ganja. The accused, identified as Gulzar Khan, was arrested at the scene and subsequently handed over to the Nampally Excise Station along with the seized contraband.
In another operation, the LB Nagar District Task Force apprehended an individual named Nitish at Allampalli. Officers recovered 671 grams of ganja from his possession. Nitish was later handed over to the LB Nagar Excise Station for further legal action.
A third arrest took place within the limits of the Nizampet excise station. The Excise Special Task Force apprehended 29-year-old Bulli Abhiram while he was allegedly selling ganja in Vasantha Nagar Colony, near the Aha Box Cricket ground. Enforcement officials seized 850 grams of ganja, a motorcycle, and a mobile phone from him before transferring him to the local excise station.
Alongside the narcotics crackdown, excise teams targeted the transport of non-duty-paid liquor. Vehicle inspections were carried out at Pahadishareef, near the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport. Personnel from the Shamshabad, Rajendranagar, and Meerpet excise stations, alongside the Hyderabad and Secunderabad District Task Forces and the Hyderabad enforcement team, intercepted and seized 28 bottles of liquor reportedly transported from Goa.
Similarly, in Zahirabad, enforcement and local teams inspected vehicles arriving from Goa, resulting in the seizure of 25 bottles of liquor. Further inspections at an unauthorized sale point in the Chenchulapalli and Julurupadu areas of Kothagudem led to the seizure of 189 liquor nips, 132 beer bottles, and 10 liquor bottles.
The department also conducted raids against illicitly distilled liquor across the state. Officials seized 309 litres of illicit liquor in Jayashankar Bhupalpally, 25 litres in Warangal Rural, 12 litres in Mahabubnagar, and nine litres each in Vikarabad and Devarakonda in Nalgonda district. Additionally, 210 kg of jaggery used to manufacture illicit liquor was seized in Mahabubnagar.
