Telangana Engineering Colleges Offer 58,038 CSE Seats for 2026-27 Academic Year

On Wednesday, June 24, 2026, the Technical Education department in Hyderabad released the engineering seat matrix for the 2026-27 academic year, revealing that computer science and allied branches continue to dominate admissions in Telangana despite rising concerns over artificial intelligence's impact on software jobs. Out of the 81,620 seats available under the TG EAPCET 2026 convener quota, a staggering 58,038 seats have been allocated to Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) and its allied streams.

The core CSE programme alone accounts for 27,431 seats, making it the largest among all engineering branches for the upcoming academic year. The second-highest allocation is in CSE (Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning), which offers 13,537 seats.

In contrast, core engineering branches have received fewer allocations. There are 15,579 seats available in the electronics and electrical engineering branches, while civil, mechanical, and allied branches have 6,871 seats. Specialized programmes, including chemical engineering, geo-informatics, agricultural engineering, and food technology, offer a combined total of 916 seats.

Across Telangana, 175 engineering colleges are offering a grand total of 1,14,007 seats. While the convener quota accounts for 81,620 seats to be filled via web counselling, the remaining seats will be filled by individual colleges under the management quota. This year, 22 university colleges, including Osmania University and JNTU-Hyderabad, are offering 6,046 seats.

According to official data, 84,002 candidates registered for the web-based counselling, and 36,393 students had attended the certificate verification process by Wednesday. The deadline for certificate verification is June 29, and the window for web options will remain open from June 25 to July 1.

To assist students, a mock seat allocation will be released on or before July 4, allowing candidates to modify their options if necessary. The provisional seat allotment will be released on or before July 10, with tuition fee payments and online self-reporting scheduled between July 10 and July 14.
